About the Author
Kimber M. Quinney is adjunct faculty in the Department of History at California State University, San Marcos. Thomas J. Cesarini is the founder and executive director of Convivio, a nonprofit organization for Italian humanities. They are coauthors of San Diego’s Little Italy (Arcadia 2007). Book royalties will benefit Convivio and its affiliate, the Italian Historical Society of San Diego.

San Diego's Fishing Industry (Images of America (San Diego, Ca))

Interesting, but disappointing.
Mostly about and including photos of/from Italian families although as the book states only about 15% of the tuna industry out of San Diego were Italian. About 80% are/were Portuguese, but very little is shown of that part. A few pictures from the Portuguese Historical Society. Author would only have had to go to famlilies on Point Loma for a more inclusive idea of the industry. Also could have had more about the Japanese who were very involved until the Second World World when their posessions were more or less confiscated.
Seemed more about specific families than the overall industry.

I purchased this book for a friend whose family immigrated to San Diego from Sicily and fished off the coast for more than fifty years. Not all the pictures have names, but it is a good reference for the time period.
