She is my obsession. But someone else is obsessed with me...
I'm used to being in charge. With money comes power, and I have plenty of both.

But one person doesn't bow down to me. She challenges me at every turn and drives me insane with longing.

She's my assistant, Grace Copeland, and she wants something that, by rights, is mine.

But others are also after what is mine. And I'm willing to do whatever’s necessary to protect what—and who—belongs to me.

Including Grace.

A SIX PART SERIAL with dual points of view, lots of bad words, the creative use of glass walled rooms, and a beach house that holds a whole lot of secrets. There are all sorts of cliffs in these books, some even include actual rocks. You have been warned.

* If you like seductive serials from authors like Olivia Thorne, M.S. Parker & Cassie Wild, Hannah Ford, and Ainsley Booth...this is your kind of story.

Short lived sigh of relief.
By Elizabeth E Neal
Cari and Taryn, you're killing me! You two have become the queens of cliffhangers and I eagerly anticipate each new volume so I can find out what happened. Then you end on another cliffhanger, causing me to read and repeat. LOL Each of you need to start preparing those guest rooms as I'm taking turns camping out with both of you to save my sanity as I wait for each new volume.*smirk*

I was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief upon learning Blake was okay. As the hero, I knew he wouldn't be mortally wounded, but still. So Blake thwarts the intentions of the men that broke into Grace's, err Blake's house, wounding one of the men. He also finds what he feels is a piece of evidence as to the identity of at least one of the perpetrators. He's understandably upset and doesn't want to believe it, yet what other reason could there possibly be for the item being there.

Once the police arrive, Blake and Grace are questioned and one officer gets a little too personal when asking how exactly they were indisposed when the break-in occurred. Psst...I'm torn between thinking she's nosey or jealous, but I'm going with both. *wink* Blake tries to answer tactfully, yet Grace (I loved her for this moment alone) answered bluntly. It was awesome! LOL

Afterwards, Blake informs Grace she can't stay there, not only because she inadvertently tells him she feels they've been in the house before, but also because she is in all actuality trespassing. Though Blake doesn't mention that last part. Smart man.

Of course, Grace has nowhere else to go and no job to bring in income to afford her own place. *shakes fist at Blake.* Before Blake knows it, he hears himself tell Grace she's going home with him. The home he's never taken another woman to, yet he's taking Grace there. That's a big deal and he knows it. Plus, it's Grace.

They aren't there long before they're *ahem* comforting each other. Woah baby, was it hot. There's also some actual connecting happening on an emotional level and yes, that scares Blake and he intentionally hurts Grace to push her away. *takes back earlier smart man comment.* This leads to some tense times at the house as they settle into a somewhat comfortable routine. Grace knows she needs to find new accommodations quickly and petitions for her old job back. Yes, she initially took the job under false pretenses, but she actually liked it and was very good at it. Blake knows she was good at it too, as no one kept him as organized as she did. Grace is very persuasive *snicker* in her negotiations and while not agreeing to the rehire, Blake doesn't stop anything once Grace starts her return to the company in motion.

Things get further strained between them though as Blake's Mom and her current boy toy make an unexpected visit. Oh boy. Blake arrives home to Grace making a meal for the four of them and gets a little twitchy as they refer to Grace as his girlfriend and that she's perfect for him. Grace tries to nicely correct the assumption, but Blake does what he does so well and hurts Grace yet again. Ugh! But we also have a now clearer vision as to Blake's childhood and the circumstances that shaped him into the man he has become. You can't help but feel sorry for what he went through, though you want to throttle him for continually hurting Grace. Especially since we know he cares about her and has for awhile.

There's also the fact that Blake is now suspicious of every man in his circle that appears to have any sort of injury. He knows that he needs to find out what happened so he decides to throw a party at his house. *gasp* Yes, a party that he's willingly throwing, albeit with ulterior motives. Of course, Grace helps him with the preparations, but he knows something is a little off with her and the fact that they're essentially living together still gives him the willies. LOL But I think it's because he likes it, as opposed to him being against it.

The day of the party arrives, but Grace doesn't. Wait, what? See what I mean about my earlier statement that they're killing me? *head desk* Grace went out for a lunch meeting and hasn't returned. Blake knows she wouldn't bail on him, yet he's also starting to piece things together in regards to her art. Yes, she's still working on it and he's just realized where she's doing it. But now they need to find Grace and Blake won't settle for anything less.

I highly recommend this serial and anxiously await each release. I do recommend you read them in order, otherwise everything won't come together for you as it should.

Hot, hot, hot. With a side of mystery!
By Amelia
In Volume 4 of The Boss, we're back with Blake's POV. Yay! :)

And we're PLUNGED in the heat of the action. Not sexy action. Home invasion action. Both Blake and Grace are rattled by what just happened and Blake (naturally) keeps something from her. Oh, when will he learn to trust her a little?

They call the cops then decide that they need to be somewhere else but there. So, off they go to Blake's house. En route though, questions abound. And hilariously, Grace thinks that Blake and her grandmother are an item. And she reassures him "You can tell me. I can take it." I doubt that's true though.

Even though this book is from Blake's POV, we still find out a little bit more about Grace i.e. that vine tattoo she has. I'm wondering if it was mentioned in the previous books but I can't remember. It's nice to know though that both lead characters are tattooed. Blake doesn't ask her about her tattoo though. Grace had more curiousity about his tattoo than he does hers!

My favourite quote in the entire book occurs 34% in "Tonight she would hold onto me. And maybe for once, I'd hold back" For me, this quote is about Blake being vulnerable and that's such a turn-on in a man.

Of course, while they're in bed together, Blake mentions his half-brother, Sebastian. Not quite an intelligent move on his part because everything that he says about Sebastian seems to intrigue Grace. Hell, I'm intrigued too and can't wait to meet this guy!

At the end of Chapter 3, Blake thinks to himself that he hadn't told her about the class and that class had been how he'd met Grace and how he'd fallen in love with glass.

We're already in Volume 4 and the mystery keeps popping up! I'm anxious to tie up loose ends not find new ones! But Taryn and Cari obviously have other plans for us poor, poor readers.

We're near to the end of the book and we're teased with more information about Blake's half-brother, Sebastian. I love teasers but for that one moment, I became more curious about Sebastian and forgot that this is Blake's and Grace's story. Of course, we're reminded that there is a mystery to solve because we're given a little hint at who could possibly be the intruders from the earlier chapter.

However, in the midst of the mystery, Blake's unique fascination with pickles makes an appearance. I'd forgotten that he loves pickles! Thankfully, Grace didn't forget :)

Blake throws a party and us readers get another hint about the home invasion, which frankly makes me even more confused and paranoid. I'm almost tempted to just jump to Volume 6 to ease my misery. Just as we, the faithful readers, may get more hints about what's really happening, the authors leave us with a cliffhanger! I should've expected it ;P

Absorbingly intriguing and seductive.
By Dal M
Absorbingly intriguing and seductive. The plot thickens and my addiction level has skyrocketed.
“She was fire and fun and warmth and life. I’d had none of those things for so long that I was starving.”

I'm so glad I could read these almost completely at once! I don't think I could've stood the suspense and scorching heat between these two! As with the previous installments in this serial, part four picks off where the last one left off, now told from Blake’s point of view.
“Her knowing eyes sparkled with their witchy secrets. Witches didn’t scare me. But Grace Copeland’s power over me f*ing terrified me.”

In every volume I fall a bit more for the acerbic and ruthless man who’s used to being in complete control, except when it comes to Grace. With her, he is so passed obsessed he can’t even see he’s irrevocably in love. He’s cruising on The-Nile as if it were right in his back yard and I’m loving it because we also get to see there’s a vulnerability under all that control.
“Because she couldn’t want to just be with me. That wasn’t possible. There always had to be a set-up going on. A long con. That had been true in the past, hadn’t it?”

With each chip that falls from the ice fortress that surrounds Blake’s heart the mystery around him and Grace’s grandmother’s house keeps getting more interesting. I seriously can’t figure out where the authors are going with this, but I’m certainly enjoying the ride. Blake has drawn blood from intruders at the Marblehead house and suspects just about everyone around him including his supposedly best friend.
I smiled, helpless not to. That was the gift she gave me. No matter how fraught or f*d up our situation was, she gave me back the light. “You inspire me to new heights.”

To recap up to now there’s Blake’s long time passion and obsession, the incendiary attraction between them and an enigma waiting to be solved. Puzzle pieces are given, a picture is forming but there are still a lot of questions to be answered, new ones that have cropped up and of course there’s a maddening cliffhanger. I’m loving it!

This is the fourth volume of six in The Boss serial. It is a short read, told from the hero’s point of view with a cliffhanger. It is strongly advised that these be read in order.
